A Vision on the Path to Reality: Construction Milestones Mark Progress in Kalaeloa
Hunt’s vision for Kalaeloa is taking shape as the team lays the foundation for the future. Work is progressing on schedule, and with the earthwork complete, crews are focused on utilities and roadways. Underground utilities are being installed on Boxer Road and Copahee Avenue, and roadwork is underway on Kamokila Boulevard, with curbs, gutters and sidewalks taking shape along the 1,300-foot stretch.

VA Pacific Islands Health Care System Breaks Ground on New VA Clinic in Kalaeloa
KALAELOA, HI  — VA Pacific Islands Health Care System (VAPIHCS) and Hunt Companies Hawaiʻi marked a milestone today with the groundbreaking for the Advanced Leeward Outpatient Healthcare Access (ALOHA) project in Kalaeloa. Upon completion, the $120 million, 88,675 square-foot multi-specialty outpatient clinic will provide primary and mental health care, x-ray, laboratory and diagnostic services, a pharmacy, and specialty care for more than 87,000 veterans on Oʻahu.

A first step in preparing Kalaeloa for future development took place today as Hunt Companies held a groundbreaking ceremony near Franklin Delano Roosevelt (FDR) Avenue and Boxer Road. The area is the future site of two upcoming catalytic projects—the recently announced state-of-the-art Veterans Affairs (VA) clinic and the building of nearly 400 new homes by local homebuilder, Gentry Homes.

Ho'ala Kalaeloa (Renew Kalaeloa) is Hunt’s effort to redevelop and revitalize nearly 540 acres of the former Barbers Point Naval Air Station. As part of this effort, Hunt plans to renovate the former bachelor officer quarters (BOQ) and revive it as rental housing with 100 one-bedroom reserved-housing apartments.
